Was getting a pig actually difficult? o_0;
I'm puzzled. People kept going on about the odds of getting a pig from Lunar Fortunes being really rare... but I managed to get two mini-pigs from 15 fortunes... so I figured they were just trying to scam in order to sell their pigs at like 25k.
I mean... I sold my second pig for 10k because someone actually wanted to buy it for that price, but I also told him how to get another for himself since I figured it was only fair. Then of course I got another one when I got my Lion Mask.... and I still have quite a few of those little bag things left over. So right now I have two mini-pigs... and was intending to swap in the rest of my Lunar Tokens for fortunes to get more of them.... but I kinda forgot... ^_^;; ... Meh... Seriously though... did some people have difficulty getting them? |

I opened like 200 fortunes and no piggy.
I'd say it's more tedious than it is challenging. It's not that big a deal getting tokens and getting the fortunes, as you have a 2/3 chance to get them from Lucky Hochei. Also, I heard from many people that ANet lowered the percentage of finding a piggy day by day (from like 3% to 0.4%?). |

It's random. I got my 1st by running 5 characters through all the quests. It took a day just to get that one. There's no skill involved, so people get annoyed by having their time wasted. Good for you if it only takes 5 minutes, not so good if it takes several hours.
Of course, I had 9 pigs by the end, due to some deft footwork between districts during the finale. Last edited by Jongo River; Feb 19, 2007 at 02:33 PM // 14:33.. |

lol I got 4 mini piggy and all I did was turn up with a handful of ingredients.
I think if you miss certain stuff for the cook, you might end up missing a hat but 4 out of 4 times I got the pig. Gave some of them away to the guildies as well |

Heh.... 200 fortunes and no pig? ... Maybe that about lowering the probability per day was right... since I got my first two on the first day... and yes... just 15 tokens. First piggy from the 9th token and second piggy from the 13th.
I suppose I almost regret selling that second piggy so cheap now, or at least I would if it weren't for the fact that they were given away with the hats later on.... [and I caught many fun screencaps of a hoard of lion-masked participants chasing after the Celestial Pig and his warthog friends at the end, complete with hoarde of mini-pigs] |

Getting a pig was quite difficult until the festival end events started.
I opened over 1100fortunes (17 characters doing all shing jea and kamadan quests) and got a grand total of...1 pig. A guildmate got his on his second character doing the quests. Another never got one after putting 10 characters through the quests. However, once the events started and getting a pig was rather easy prices dropped fast fast. It was kind of sad to see districts that were all set up to get the pig fail by 1 ingredient or so because someone either lied or left the district leaving everyone there SOL. There were some great guilds that district sponorships so those people were greatly appreciated. I spent most of my time on getting pigs for guildmates who couldn't be on this weekend. |

piggy
Well i spent over 500 on the first day and didn't get a piggy at all. But on the 2nd day i used around 60 and finaly got my piggy. Oh ya the reason so many where handed out on the first day, bug in the codeing it seams. But of course when it was all said and done, i didn't matter becuase you most likey got a piggy one way or another.

I did the quests with 10 characters, 125 tokens per character, turned them all n for Fortunes, and didn't get a single pig from it. Over 400 fortunes and nada. I did get 11 pigs from the events however. Yes, I did bring a number of ingredients each time I went.

I got one from about 175 fortunes & 1 from the event. My % seemed about right in the middle. 2 from 15 is very lucky, but that's how randomness works!

I did all the quests with all 5 characters, and then blew all the fortunes in one shot - and I got a pig! I also got to sell the remaining 140 fortunes for a tidy profit - especially useful because I was broke after dressing my monk up in Vabbian.
Then I got another pig from the celestial. Think I'll hold onto it until it's as rare as it was before the finale. |

I got into the festival early and got 3 pigs out of my first 25 fortunes. I kid you not. No luck whatsoever with the couple of hundred I got later.

365 opened and no pig. If I didn't get four from the Celestial Pig guy, I would probably cuss you out for being so lucky. |

I opened over 400 fortunes and no pig, 300 or so the first day. I would have been MUCH better off spending 30k on the thing and selling the fortunes/tokens.
Though I ended up with six of them, purchased one (ah well, I have more than enough plat for anything I want and still ended up at a net gain from the weekend) and got 5 during the event. I think it mostly seemed that the drop rates were higher at first simply because only those that were lucky were posting, the rest of us were thinking we were unlucky bastards and were busy getting tokens. Even on the last little bit there were still people getting them in 15 fortunes or less. At the very least, when Guildwiki started taking more accurate measure the drop rate for pigs was *never* very high. Personally, I wonder why the had such a tiny drop rate from the fortunes and then gave them away like candy at the finale - seems kinda strange. It would be interesting to know how many are out in the wild compared to other mini-pets - it depends on what percentage of the active population has characters over a year old and what percentage participated in the event. For all we know the pig may still be quite rare, though I doubt it. |

i think they made a huge mistake including pigs in the fortunes at all!!
First, it made people use up their fortunes to find pigs instead of saving them to use in explorable areas (and since one or two of the results of fortunes were a bonus to skills - that seems to have been part of the original intention - you would use it for pve-ing by taking the chance you might get a bonus or might get possessed) Secondly, it screwed around with the economy with pigs going from 60k suddenly down to 5k in a couple of hours. Thirdly, it kept a lot of people from participating in finding ingredients, which was the team aspect of this whole weekend anyway or taking time to play rollerbeetle which was the unique pvp activity for this event - people were too busy trying to get fortunes And the sad thing is, there was no reason for it - they must have known pigs were going to be so plentiful that people shing jea would not need them and people in lions arch and kamadan were going to be able to buy them easily and if they really wanted to give people in those two towns a shot at pigs without having to buy them they could have put them in the red bags that you can now get for your tokens instead of in the fortunes. I do think Anet did a tremendous job on the graphics for the fest and i loved the fireworks - but that pig thing really was weird!! |
